A leopard from the Musée de la Toile de Jouy collections: a cotton twill block-printed after 1806 by the Manufacture Royale d'Oberkampf at Jouy-en-Josas, and used in 1816 in the billiard room of the château du Montcel, then occupied by Oberkampf's descendants. Parts of the document were missing and have been completed, the scale lifted slightly, and the whole rewoven as a chiselled velvet on a nineteenth-century perforated-cardboard loom. The density of the loops and cotton pile is what carries it.
