Pierre Frey | Nara

Nara is a small stylised pattern in the manner of the 1940s, inspired by a print found in a collection of samples kept in the Maison Pierre Frey archives. Sample books are where the workaday genius of past decades survives, and this design has exactly that character: modest in scale, sure in rhythm, made to be used rather than admired. It furnishes beautifully — chairs, cushions, small rooms — without ever raising its voice.
