Pierre Frey | Nubem

Nubem emerges from Benjamin Graindorge's exploration of optical illusion, conceived for Pierre Frey's Inspired Fabrics exhibition at the Decorative Arts Museum. Drawing from the House's defining creative period between 1960 and 1979, the designer interrogates visual perception through a pixelated language that echoes the geometric abstraction of early 1970s Op Art. The composition engages the viewer's eye in subtle movement, creating an atmospheric quality that transforms a wall into something almost dematerialised, existing somewhere between pattern and pure visual sensation. This is decoration as intellectual exercise, where restraint and precision yield quietly compelling spatial presence.
