Pierre Frey | Ogaki

Ogaki is a hand-painted scene of everyday life in Japan, with figures in patterned kimono, chrysanthemums and a lakeside landscape, printed onto a good-quality cotton. The repeat is very large, 128 by 135 cm on a half drop, so it is at its best where the whole picture can be seen: full-length curtains, a blind, a headboard or a screen. Allow for the repeat and the half drop when estimating; on curtains that usually means adding one full repeat to every drop. At 248 g per metre it gathers and pleats easily, and unlike most of the collection its care label allows a 30°C wash.
