Pakku takes its composition from a traditional Japanese wooden floor, typical of the nineteenth century, as featured in a print by Hiroshige, and its delicate shading is a nod to the shibori dyeing technique. Resolutely contemporary in effect, it is made of Himalayan wool pile, hand-knotted in Nepal. Floorboards remembered by a printmaker, shaded like folded-and-dyed cloth, knotted by hand: three crafts deep, and quietly beautiful.
