Parasol is a graphic, contemporary composition evoking an afternoon at the beach, somewhere between bath towels and sunshades. The strength of the design is sublimated by a very beautiful quality of wool in cut velvet, hand-knotted in the traditional way in Nepal — a leisurely subject given seriously good making. The result is sunshine underfoot with real depth of pile, and not a grain of sand.
