This superb design of flowering branches and pineapple reproduces a printed canvas known as L'Ananas, kept in the Musée de la Toile de Jouy and originally block-printed around 1777 by the Manufacture Royale d'Oberkampf for furnishing use. Its coordinated fabric was chosen for the renovation of the queen's small apartments at the Palace of Versailles — a pedigree the wallpaper wears without ceremony, letting the generous drawing speak for itself.
