Pierre Frey | Pierrefonds

Pierrefonds is a printed cotton velvet: columns of palms and broad leaves running down the cloth, each one overlapping the next, in greens and dusty reds on a pale ground. Printing on velvet gives the colour a depth a flat cotton cannot, and the pile catches the light differently as you move around it. The repeat is 69 by 68 cm on a straight match, so plan cushion fronts and chair backs around the leaf columns before cutting. It suits cushions, headboards, occasional chairs and curtains; like any cotton velvet the pile will flatten and take on a patina where it is used most.
