Pitaya bears the name of a Chinese fruit, and its large polychrome motif is hand-knotted in wool in Nepal. At rug scale the design gains a settled magnificence: the knotting renders each form with the slight softness of handwork, and the wool pile gives the composition weight and warmth underfoot. It is the companion piece to the embroidered fabric of the same name, translated into the floor's own language.
