Pondichéry Rayure is a stripe designed from the Pondichéry canvas, alternating fine and wide borders taken from the parent document. It is the traditional and endlessly useful move: the indienne's ornament, disciplined into bands, so the exuberant original gains a companion that can edge, line, coordinate or simply stripe a room on its own. The borders keep the Indian drawing's character; the format makes it tractable.
