Quilt is a trompe-l'oeil print taken from a nineteenth-century patchwork quilt preserved in the Maison's archives. It commemorates a domestic art widespread in Anglo-Saxon countries — the practice of turning recycling into something worth keeping — and renders the pieced surface in print, seams, repeats and all. The pleasure of it lies in the double take: a flat cloth that carries the memory of many, each fragment with its own history.
