Scènes de Campagne is printed in France on cotton percale: a polychrome toile de Jouy whose bucolic scenes, original colouring and pronounced bisage are typical of the last quarter of the eighteenth century. It reproduces a canvas block-printed by the Royal Manufacture of Oberkampf around 1785, dated by its dirigible balloon, first flown from Paris in 1783. The archive document is a quilt, probably from a duchess bed. Also available as wallpaper.
