Terrazzo takes its cue from the material so fashionable in the 1980s — fragments of natural stone and marble bound in cement. The rug evokes those superimposed slivers of stone, hand-tufted in wool and bamboo with differing pile heights, so the surface carries genuine relief. What was once underfoot in polished form returns here softened, the geology intact but the comfort considerably improved.
