Described in the seventeenth century as an 'economical damask' on account of its linen and silk weave, Textured Damask is a silky cloth with a lightly striped ground carrying an elegant classical decoration. The name undersells it: the mixed weave gives the surface a liveliness that pure formality rarely manages. It is history's sensible compromise, and none the less handsome for it.
