Pierre Frey | Tressage – Bleu

Tressage reproduces a late eighteenth-century toile de Jouy evoking the braiding of rush or straw. Hand-tufted in New Zealand wool with a beautiful texture alternating cut and loop pile, the rug gives the drawn plait genuine dimension — the pattern's weave answered by the weave of the making. It is a quietly clever object: basketry, drawn, then remade as something soft underfoot.
