Frieda is the Temperley London collaboration's plain velvet: a pure cotton pile woven in Italy, rub-tested to a very high figure and finished with a stain-repellent treatment, so it works as hard as it looks. The pile is dense and short, taking light with a soft, even bloom rather than a flashy sheen. It is the sensible foundation of the collaboration — the cloth that lets the printed and embroidered designs perform around it.
