Toulin is printed on Linara, Romo's much-loved brushed cotton and linen cloth, which is half the story: the geometric ikat figure sits on a ground with a suede-soft nap and a dry, natural handle. The drawing has the slightly feathered edge that ikat patterns are meant to have, softening the geometry into something handmade. It is washable and rated at 30,000 rubs severe domestic, so it works as hard as it looks easy — loose covers, upholstery and curtains alike.
