Marbled paper, translated into cloth: the veining and the pooled patches of colour that come from floating pigment on water, worked out as a jacquard. The result is abstract in the proper sense of the word, since nothing in it was ever drawn.
A trace of metallic yarn, two per cent, runs through the weave and catches the light along the veins. The repeat runs 47 cm up the cloth by 70 cm across it, wide enough that the marbling never settles into an obvious grid. Cotton, acetate and viscose at 345 g, 140 cm wide, and 20,000 Martindale rubs, which covers upholstery in normal domestic use. Sixteen colourways, which is a lot of choice for something with no drawn line in it at all. Made in Italy.
