Houndstooth, pulled out of shape until the interlocking teeth stop being a check and become something considerably less orderly. Rubelli named it for the witch of Slavic and Russian folklore, which suits a pattern made to misbehave.
Vivid touches of colour break the two-tone logic that pied-de-poule normally depends on, and the repeat is large for a check at 46 cm by 70 cm, so the distortion stays visible instead of being lost in the density. Acetate and viscose carry most of the cloth, with cotton behind them, and at 470 g there is enough body for the distorted teeth to keep their edges instead of blurring into the ground. 140 cm wide, 20,000 Martindale rubs, five colourways. Upholstery in normal domestic use. Made in Italy.
