Venetian glass beads, the small multicoloured sort sold by the handful, worked up into a micro-pattern that shimmers as it moves. The scale is tiny and the repeat small at 29.2 by 17.5 cm, which is what makes it behave almost optically: from across a room the colours mix, close up they separate again.

Rubelli rates it for regular to heavy use, and a pattern at this scale is forgiving on a shaped frame, where a larger figure would be lost in the cutting. Ten colourways at 140 cm and 430 g.
