An eighteenth-century Indian block print, reproduced as a jacquard. The original technique gives the design its character: isolated bunches of flowers, each cut cleanly at the edge the way a carved block cuts it, standing on plain ground with nothing linking them. Woven rather than printed, that precision survives handling in a way a print does not.
The cloth is a polyester and nylon mix at 480 g, 35,000 Martindale rubs, with a 34 cm repeat in both directions. Rubelli rate it for upholstery and the weight bears that out. The five colourways take their names from spice and pigment rather than from neutrals, which is worth knowing before a whole sofa is specified in it. 140 cm wide, made in India.
