The fourth edition of a Rubelli cloth that keeps returning, reissued each time with the palette redrawn, twenty-eight shades in this one. Moire has been a furnishing staple since the Renaissance and the method has barely changed: heat and pressure applied to a ribbed cloth, no chemistry, producing a watermark of concentric undulations that is never quite repeatable.
On this cotton, viscose and linen canvas the figure is medium to large, so it reads across a sofa rather than disappearing into it, and the hand is notably soft for a cloth of 460 g. Rated for upholstery and for drapery at 20,000 Martindale. Design Formafantasma. 145 cm wide, made in Italy.
