What has been copied here is not a Renaissance velvet but a patchwork of fragments of one, worn unevenly, and the weave reproduces that wear: the pattern surfaces and fades across a 70 cm repeat as though the cloth had already had two centuries of use before it left the mill. Making abrasion look deliberate takes a particular weave structure, and that is the achievement of the design.
It is entirely Trevira CS, so the silky surface is engineered rather than natural, and the certification is complete: contract curtains and contract upholstery in the UK, France, Germany and Italy, IMO 7 for curtains and IMO 8 for upholstery. Rubelli rate it for light use. Fifteen colourways, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
