Broken lines that never close into a motif. What is drawn here is the outline of a pile-on-pile velvet held in the Rubelli archive, traced rather than copied, so the design registers as the memory of a pattern instead of the pattern itself. The surface carries a silky sheen and a metallic one at the same time, which is why it changes so much between daylight and lamplight.
Cloth on a nonwoven ground, sold by the metre at 140 cm wide, with a 68 cm vertical and 70 cm horizontal repeat. The palette runs from pale neutrals into metal: golds, an oxidised silver, a bronze. Tested to EN 12149. Made in Italy.
