A late seventeenth-century Italian furnishing pattern, redrawn and then largely left alone. What has been changed is the colour: the four colourways are contemporary rather than historical, and that single decision is what stops the design reading as a museum reproduction.
Structurally it is a lampas, the pattern weft carried above a silk-blended ground and bound in only where the figure requires it, which is why the design sits proud of its background. Viscose with silk at 500 g, on a large repeat of 53 by 67.5 cm. Rubelli rate it for light use: curtains, blinds, cushions, the back of a chair that is looked at more than it is sat in. Woven in Italy at 135 cm.
