Two patterns of quite different origin have been laid over one another: passementerie from the late sixteenth century, and an Indian ikat. Neither wins. What comes out is the delabre effect Rubelli were after, a design that looks partly effaced, with the blurred edges native to ikat doing most of that work.
The ground is silk, the figure is raised off it, and a metallic yarn runs among the fibres. At 300 g it is light, and the repeat is large at 63 by 70 cm, so it belongs at a window or on a panel rather than on seating; Rubelli rate it for light use and for drapery. Ten colourways, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
