Rosoni: large circular medallions, a form Venice took from the East and used steadily through the sixteenth century. They are embroidered here in metal thread on a silk ground, at 57 by 65 cm, a medallion large enough to be read whole rather than as a repeating motif.
Metal thread is the greater part of the cloth by weight and behaves accordingly. It holds a fold sharply, it finds every light source in a room, and it wants to be hung where it can move. Curtains, blinds and cushions rather than seating. Four colourways at 380 g. It is 130 cm wide, narrower than most of the range, which is worth allowing for when calculating drops.
