An eighteenth-century English fragment in the Fondazione Rubelli is the source, and the drawing that came off it is a light one: small in its parts, open in its ground, more graceful than grand.
It is woven reversible, which is worth knowing before anything is cut. Either face can be used, and on an unlined curtain the back of the cloth is what the street sees, so a reversible damask quietly solves a problem that ordinarily costs money to solve. The drawing is small and open enough to work in a modest room, where a full-scale damask would crowd it. Linen with cotton and silk, light at 270 g, on a 60 by 70 cm repeat. Five colourways, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
