Over an eighteenth-century pattern Rubelli have laid a lattice, and the two refuse to occupy the same plane: the older drawing recedes, the lattice holds the surface, and light behaves differently on each. The luminosity people notice in it comes from that layering rather than from any metallic yarn, of which there is none.
This is the most technically involved cloth in the damask family, with the greatest number of separate weave structures at work in a single piece. Acetate, viscose, linen and silk at 330 g, a 39 by 35 cm repeat, six colourways. A window, a panel, a cushion, rather than a seat. 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
