The stripe runs horizontally and comes from the way the weft is introduced rather than from any change of colour, so it is a stripe seen in the light rather than in the shade. The yarn is exclusive to Rubelli and thicker than the viscose ordinarily used for velvet, which is where the density comes from.
It is finished the way silk velvet is finished, and the pile is combed twice, so the hand is softer than 710 g of cloth would suggest. Sixteen colourways, for curtains, blinds and cushions. Made in Italy, 140 cm wide.
