The ground is hand-woven dupion silk, uneven before anything is done to it, and the embroidery is worked over that in viscose thread: foliage, flowers, leaves and rocaille scrolls running in the continuous S-curve that rococo depends on. Nothing in the design stops or squares off.
Because the thread is viscose rather than metal it lies soft against the silk, and the cloth keeps a drape that heavy embroidery usually kills. The repeat is 62 by 64 cm, near enough square. Silk is 88 per cent of the cloth and the embroidery thread the remaining twelve, so nearly everything the hand meets is silk. Five colourways at 340 g, 138 cm wide, for curtains and decoration rather than upholstery. Embroidered in India.
