Fragments of Renaissance velvet, kept in the Rubelli archive as a patchwork, lie behind this one. The weave reproduces them abraded rather than whole, so what you get is the ghost of a pattern instead of the pattern itself, which is the right idea for a cloth that will spend its life with daylight behind it.
The repeat is very long: 117 cm down, 70 cm across. On a 320 cm width, hung railroaded, that gives a slow figure with no seam to interrupt it. Trevira CS throughout, so it is flame-retardant by fibre and not by finish. Four colourways. Made in Italy.
