Two piles in the same cloth: cut velvet in one set of stripes, chenille in the next. Because chenille stands higher and reflects differently, the stripe is built out of level and lustre rather than out of colour, and it changes as you walk past a chair covered in it.
890 g, a viscose pile on a cotton ground, and 70,000 Martindale rubs, which is a heavy-use figure by any reading. The horizontal repeat is 35 cm, a quarter of the 140 cm width, so the stripe is regular and easy to plan around on a seat or a long bench. Nothing here is printed or pressed; the whole effect is woven. Six colourways. Woven in India.
