Moiré is the wave-like watering that appears when two layers of cloth are pressed together under cylinders. No two lengths come out the same and no amount of care will make them. Formafantasma chose a glossy, coarse-weave canvas to carry it here, so the figure sits on a surface with visible grain rather than on a smooth ground, and the gloss is what makes the watering legible at all.
The canvas is flame-retardant and bonded to a nonwoven ground, sold by the metre at 140 cm wide, in four colourways. Certified to EN 13501-1 in Europe, ASTM E-84 in the United States and IMO 5 for marine use, and tested to EN 12149. Made in Italy.
