Parallel lines, cut deep, and nothing else going on: the reference is Frank Stella and the American minimalists, and the discipline holds. A long cut pile stands against engraved lines, so the pattern is a matter of height and shadow rather than of colour, and the velvet itself stays matt and soft to the hand.
The performance is unusual for something this considered. 120,000 Martindale rubs, flame-retardant polyester throughout, certification for contract upholstery and curtains in the UK, France, Germany and Italy, IMO 8 for marine use, and BS5852 to both cigarette and match. Fourteen colourways, and at a 13.5 by 17.5 cm repeat the lines run close enough for the pattern to hold together on a small chair as well as on a long sofa. 890 g, woven in Turkiye.
