Venetian lace of the eighteenth century was never one texture but many, and that is what this lampas sets out to keep. Scrolls, stylised flowers and foliage run across the entire surface as a dense allover, and within them the weave keeps changing register, so some passages read solid, some open, some almost transparent.
The scale has been enlarged from lace proportions to furnishing ones without the drawing thinning out, which is the difficult part of the exercise. The repeat is 70 cm down and 69.5 cm across, half the 140 cm width. Silk with linen and metallic yarn in the mix, 430 g. Six colourways, running from yellow through reds and browns to neutrals and pale blues. Made in Italy.
