There is a folly in the grounds of Painswick Rococo Garden in Gloucestershire with a castellated roof. Luke Edward Hall noticed it on a hot summer day and had the design more or less immediately, and what is on the cloth is exactly that: battlements and gothic motifs sketched rather than drafted, so the line wanders where a real elevation would be straight.
Printed on plain cotton at 150 cm and 280 g, with a small repeat of 13.5 by 24.5 cm. Twenty thousand Martindale rubs is enough for a chair, a stool or a headboard rather than the sofa the family lives on. Three colourways, made in Italy.
