The eighteenth-century document behind this one is an oddity even by the standards of the Fondazione Rubelli archive, and the weave keeps its strangeness: a design so dense it reads as embroidery, describing a journey through a country that does not exist.
The horizontal repeat is 17 cm, an eighth of the 135 cm width, against a 56 cm vertical, so the figure is tall and narrow and stacks up a drop like a column. Viscose with an eco polyamide, 590 g, 30,000 Martindale rubs, and rated by Rubelli for intensive use, which is rare for a design this decorative. A repeat an eighth of the width also means very little waste when cutting narrow pieces. Three colourways. Made in Italy.
