In Bhagalpur, where the silkworms are raised, weavers began some years ago to work the remnants of wild silk production into cloth, and the mixed, accidental colour that came off those looms is what this fabric is after. It is named for the spring festival of colour rather than for anything in the weave.
Chenille gives it the velvety hand and most of the 820 g. Underneath the appearance it is a technical cloth: 75,000 Martindale rubs, which is a sofa in a busy house for a very long time. Twelve colourways. 135 cm, woven in India.
