Cotton thread on a linen ground, and the cotton has been chosen thick on purpose: a fine thread would sink into the linen, a thick one stands up and casts its own small shadow. The design is a ramage of flowers and leaves taken from an anonymous drawing of the early 1900s, elegant and rustic at once, which is a hard combination to hold.
This is real embroidery rather than a woven imitation of it, at 610 g on a 130 cm cloth with a 39 cm repeat. Colour fastness to light is 3 on the eight-point scale, so keep it away from a window that takes direct sun all afternoon. Three colourways, each of them working ivory against ecru.
