Carlo Scarpa set gold leaf inside layers of Murano glass so the metal appeared to float rather than sit on the surface. King works that idea in cloth: a metallic yarn woven with silk and raised into relief, so the gold takes up whatever colour the ground is dyed and shifts with it as you move.
It is a lampas, 63 per cent viscose, 26 per cent silk, 11 per cent metallic yarn, and every one of the ten colours is reversible. At 220 g it is a light cloth, which is the point: the relief needs to move to be seen. Curtains, blinds and cushions rather than seating. 135 cm wide, made in Italy.
