Fil coupé means the heavy wefts that make the pattern are sheared away between motifs. What is left along each edge is a short fringe, slightly raised, and a ground more transparent than the figure it surrounds, so the design is legible by difference in light as much as by difference in weave.
The lines here are large, and the shearing gives them enough physical relief that they seem to move as the curtain does. Woven 320 cm wide, so the width becomes the drop and a tall window hangs without a horizontal join, in Trevira CS certified to French M1, German B1, IMO 7, Italian Classe 1, NFPA 701 and the British contract curtain standard.
