Flowers, but not scattered ones. Each group is caught inside a run of woven lace that loops around and between them, and it is the lace rather than the blooms that organises the composition. The design is English, of the eighteenth century, and the two elements are worked in different weaves so they never blur into one another.
Silk with viscose, on a repeat close to square at 71.5 cm by 70 cm, a figure large enough that it wants to be seen whole rather than cropped across a seat. Rated for drapery and decoration rather than upholstery: curtains, a bed, a set of cushions. Eight colours, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
