Silk at its coarsest is what this reproduces: the slubbed, uneven end of the fibre, where the thread thickens and thins along its length and the surface never quite lies flat. A light chintz finish has been run over the top, lifting the gloss without turning it glassy. Irregular underneath, polished above, and the tension between the two is the character of the thing.
Formafantasma designed it. A textile face on a nonwoven ground, sold by the metre at 136 cm wide, in five colourways. Certified to EN 13501-1, ASTM E-84 and IMO 5, and tested to EN 12149. Made in Italy. It suits a drawing room or a principal bedroom, where the shine will find light from more than one direction.
