The floral is made of patches of colour that swap roles, so what is flower in one part of the design is ground in another, and the source is a watercolour on paper, which explains the streaked, uneven quality of it. On chenille that streaking has somewhere to go: the pile takes colour irregularly and the result sits closer to washed pigment than to print.
The repeat is very large, 112 cm vertically over 126.5 cm across a 130 cm width, so this is a cloth to plan around rather than cut freely. 40,000 Martindale takes it into heavy use. Three colours, made in Italy.
