A kimono of 1927 is the source, and the date shows: the plant forms are stylised almost to the point of geometry, and Rubelli has kept that flatness rather than softening it into something more comfortable.
The ground is smooth and the motif stands off it in relief, worked in a frisee yarn derived from cotton. That contrast, not colour, is what carries the drawing, and it gives the cloth the look of a lampas and a silky surface without any silk in it at all. 600 g, 137 cm wide, a 56 cm vertical and 34 cm horizontal repeat, and 55,000 Martindale, which is a great deal of wear for a figured jacquard.
