A velvet with a pile that is half silk and half wool, an old and difficult combination: the silk supplies the shine, the wool gives the pile enough spring to survive being crushed. Rubelli calls it a mohair and silk velvet. The two fibres take dye differently, so the colour comes out iridescent rather than flat. At 530 g it drapes better than most velvets of its weight and works in a curtain as readily as on a chair. Twenty-six colours, 140 cm wide, made in Italy.
