An old textile document acquired by Rubelli gave the drawing: a soft geometry of sinuous lines, filled in with small motifs of varying shape and size that keep the surface from ever going still. The ground stays light in every version and the figure sits over it, so the design reads the same way right across the range.
The technical account is the surprising part. This is a solution-dyed polyester, flame retardant and UV-stable, and it neither looks nor feels like one; the hand comes close to a natural fibre. 65,000 Martindale, colour fastness 7 out of 8 to light and 4 out of 5 to sea water, certified for contract upholstery and curtains in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and the United States, with IMO 8 for marine. The repeat is small, 9.5 by 8.5 cm, so there is very little waste in cutting. Design Formafantasma. Made in Italy.
