Geometry old enough to be anonymous, but drawn tight enough to set up the flicker that optical art was after, which is where the name comes from. The play is entirely between shiny and matt weaves, and where they meet the surface breaks up into something scratched and irregular, closer to a worn plaster wall than to a hard-edged print.
Linen supplies the matt; the sheen comes from acetate and cupro. 450 g at 140 cm, with a 23 cm vertical repeat against 69.6 cm horizontally, half the width. The palette is deliberately restrained across all five versions, neutrals and pastels, and that restraint is what stops the geometry becoming loud. Rated for regular use. Made in Italy.
