The design began as a drawing, cut into strips and then woven back together by hand, which is a roundabout way to arrive at a pattern and produces one that could not have been drawn directly. The interlacing gives it real depth: the strips genuinely pass over and under each other rather than being printed to look as though they do.
Polypropylene throughout, built for outdoor use: 7 out of 8 for light fastness, a full 5 out of 5 to sea water, 28,000 Martindale. Each version is essentially two-tone, and all four are high-keyed. 145 cm wide with a 35 cm repeat both ways, 565 g. Made in Italy.
